Description

Agave xylonacantha has some of the most bizarre teeth along the leaf margins. They are relatively large and woody (hence the name xylon – wood, acanth – spine), and sometimes bi-, tri, or even quad-cuspid, meaning they have two, three, or four tips on one tooth. The narrow leaves are dark green to gray-green, sometimes wavy, and with a long, sharp terminal spine. Plants can be seen growing in dry, dusty soil in Hidalgo, Mexico.
