These Agave chrysoglossa plants are grown from seed collected off a plant that flowered at the Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, CA. Seed was collected by Brian Kemble.

Agave chrysoglossa is native to Sonora, Mexico, and can be found growing on rocky slopes and cliff faces. Plants have open, single rosettes to about 4-6 feet across with narrow, straight to slightly curved leaves that are toothless along the edges. Plants are sun tolerant, but prefer a little bit of shade in the desert southwest. They are hardy to at least the low 20’s F as long as the soil is not kept wet during the winter.
