Co-author Tristan Davis and I described this cryptic species from the eastern side of the Sierra Madre Oriental in Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas. These are growing in 3-inch pots.

Co-investigator Tristan Davis and I just described this species that was long hidden and mistaken, first for Agave striata, and then later for Agave tenuifolia It differs from both in key floristic characteristics and in subtle vegetative characteristics. Mature plants offset sparingly, at least in habitat, and will grow to about 2 feet tall and nearly 3 feet across.
