Agave schidigera

Agave schidigera is a non-offsetting species with dark green leaves, each hand painted with white stripes, curly white fibers along the leaf edge, short, but sharp terminal spine. The website follows the opinion of Ullrich reducing this from species to subspecies of Agave filifera, an opinion with which I differ. Check out for photos of plants in cultivation.

Agave schidigera looks great either singly or when massed in groups, planted near large boulders, mixed with cacti and other succulents, or tucked in with flowering perennials or small shrubs. Some of the usual culprits make excellent companion plants. Try using Baileya multiradiata, Calliandra eriophylla, Chrysactinia mexicana, Dalea capitata, Eschscholtzia californica, Penstemon superbus, Salvia greggii, Scutellaria suffrutescens, Tetraneuris acaulis and Verbena gooddingii Plants look great in decorative containers also. With its white markings and marginal threads, this cool plant will decorate any garden or container.
