Description
Beaucarnea recurvata, the famous Ponytail Palm, is not really a palm but related to Dasylirion species (Desert Spoon). This species is native to mesic forests in eastern Mexico and develops an enlarged stem, or caudex, at the base that quickly tapers to a narrow trunk and is topped by a fountain of long, strap-shaped, rich green leaves.
