Description
Coryphantha calipensis is a beautiful little plant that can be either globular or slightly teardrop shaped, tapering towards the apex. I have seen this one in some of the driest parts of Oaxaca and Puebla. These dot the landscape underneath Parkinsonia praecox on the hike to see Echeveria laui near the town of Quiotepec in Oaxaca. Plants will produce their large, yellow flowers with red centers when the weather is warm, and I suspect these are getting close to flowering size.
