Description
A little known species, Echinocereus ctenoides is in the same group as E. pectinatus and E. dasyacanthus and is highly sought after for its large, colorful flowers that bloom in various shades of yellow and orange, or even a blend of the two. This little gem comes from west central Chihuahua, northern Coahuila and western Texas. The species name ctenoides is based on the root cten– from the Greek for comb, and is a reference to the new spine clusters that stand up straight and look like a comb.
