This attractive form of Echinocereus reichenbachii was described in 2000 and is noted for its dense, reddish to reddish brown, pectinate spines and large, vivid magenta flowers that are paler in the throat. Reported from the state of Coahuila in Mexico. When first introduced into cultivation this simply was referred to as Echinocereus reichenbachii “Coahuila” an indication of its origin, although Coahuila is a very large state.
