Description
Ferocactus emoryi subsp. rectispinus is a disjunct subspecies (some regard it as a separate species) that is found in the mountains of the central part of the Baja California peninsula, straddling both states. These have the longest spines on any Ferocactus species, with some reaching up to 10 inches long. Mature plants can reach over 6 feet tall. Deep red flowers grace the tops of the plants in summer.
