These Ferocactus gracilis are grown from seed collected off of plants with really red spines in the southern part of Baja California state. Plants are found in decomposing granitic soils in the arid regions of Baja California. Easy to grow, plants should be protected from the cold when winter lows drop to mid 20’s F, and they will benefit from some light shade in the hot, desert southwest. These make awesome container plants as well as spectacular specimens in the ground.
Ferocactus gracilis is a medium sized barrel with colorful red spines. The plants are found in the southern part of the northern state of Baja California. Plants grow in flat areas and in cracks in large granitic rocks. A great plant for landscaping in the desert southwest or to grow in a decorative container.
