Fockea edulis

(1 customer review)

These Fockea edulis are in standard #1 pots (6″ in diameter) and have large tuberous roots that are nearly ready to be lifted and displayed. Check out the gallery image to see a plant that has been lifted to expose the grayish root with its numerous wart-like bumps. These are a steal at only $18.00.

Fockea edulis is native to South Africa and Namibia. Plants develop a large tuberous root and many, vine-like stems covered with dark green leaves. The milky white sap is reputedly poisonous, yet the tuberous root is sometime dug and eaten. Keep the root buried for several years and it will grow quite large at which point you can lift it for display.

Absolutely phenomenal – arrived in great shape with a caudex the size of a very big sweet potato. Super impressed! Now I want to get another one…!
