Description
Echinocereus stramineus is a hedgehog type that produces many stems forming mounds to about 12-15 inches tall and about 24 inches or more across. The large, funnel-shaped, crimson-magenta flowers are quite stunning and a large plant in full flower is an incredible sight to behold. This one is native to the Chihuahuan Desert and can be found in SE New Mexico, western Texas, northern Chihuahua, Coahuila and Nuevo Leon in Mexico.
