Description

Published in 2015, this 6″ x 9″, 302 page comprehensive field guide to the cacti and other succulents of Arizona is a gem. Covering 130 taxa of succulent plants , this guide has it all, from detailed descriptions, habitat notes, distribution maps, photographs, pronunciation and even the etymology (history of the name). The four primary authors, Peter Breslin, Rob Romero, Greg Starr, and Vonn Watkins, have spent years in the field researching their respective plants. Under the guidance of Thomas Staudt, they were able to pull together to produce this handy, comprehensive field guide. There were many people involved in the production, Maria Voris did the layout and proofreading, Margaret Norem was the primary editor who gave the book a consistent voice, Margaret Pope provided some excellent line drawings, and Matt Johnson, Doug Dawson, and David Yetman all helped fill in some of the missing pieces. All in all, this collaborative effort of members of the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society will be a valuable resource for anybody interested in the cacti and other succulents of Arizona.
